Are New Year’s Resolutions Overrated?

The New Year is upon us forcing many of us to reevaluate some life choices. There’s no time like the present to sit down and prepare a list of lifestyle changes you want to make.

Instead of allowing people to tell you that you’re making outrageous declarations for the new year, consider making your list even more outrageous. The rule should be the older you are the more outrageous your list should be.

We all should be living life to the fullest, as cliche as it may sound. After all, if you don’t believe in yourself and your dreams, who will?

Words I Want Said To Me In 2018:

Welcome to Cuba.

Look, you made the NY Times Best Seller List.

Ava DuVernay wants to work with on her next project.

Spike Lee wants to work with you on his next film project.

Yes, Erykah Badu has an opening in her schedule, for an interview.

Wow! You look great. Have you been working out?

Continue making an effort to stop and enjoy the view. Specifically, catching a sunset, gazing at the moon.

Putting myself out there creatively.

Continue adding to my list of places to visit.

Consider more healthier food options.

Stop procrastinating.

Stop allowing fear to hold me back.

Allowing myself to be open to meeting new people.

Be more supportive to creative minds/entrepreneurs such as myself.

Take more risks.

Look for creative ways to earn more money.

Reduce stress.

Look out for volunteer opportunities.

Learn more about the art, music and culture scene in my area.

Actually make more time to write.

Everyone should take time to come up with a plan for the new year. What are some things you want to accomplish in 2018?
